Star Trek Attack Wing Klingon Somraw Raptor class unboxing

The IKS Somraw was a Klingon Raptor-class scout that was in service with the Klingon Imperial Fleet in the mid-22nd century.
In 2151, the Somraw attacked and raided a Xarantine outpost. Among the goods the Somraw crew stole from the outpost was some Xarantine ale. After drinking the ale, however, the crew became infected with a deadly toxin. Sometime later, the Somraw was disabled in an attack by a Xarantine ship and forced to hide in the atmosphere of a class 9 gas giant while they made repairs. Before the repairs could be completed, however, most of the crew fell victim to the toxin from the Xarantine ale and collapsed, leaving the Somraw in a decaying orbit.  Which features for the mission

The Somraw was later discovered by the crew of the United Earth starship NX-01 Enterprise. Investigating what he thought was a shipwreck, Captain Jonathan Archer had

Dungeons and Dragons D&D Attack Wing simple storage solution

Now you have followed us and seen all the great bits and pieces you get with the D&D Attack wing Mega Bundle, where are you going to store it? I wondered that.  I have come up with a simple solution for the time being until more suitable methods are found using the starter box.
The problem with the starter box is once the insert is out you have a massive hole in the lid, so all the bits can fall out, and with the insert in there is not enough room to store all your bits from the other packs.
Well I have the solution.....

Take the lid of the box, the one with the dirty great hole in, and the plastic lid from the insert that holds the dragons.
a bit of gel type superglue, or any glue of your choice really around the edge, and some time to set and.....
Everything fits nice and safe inside, its not ideal, for those that like to organise their tokens like me, but it keeps it all together until you can pick up some suitable containers for them.

Star Trek Attack wing IKS Korinar unboxing

The IKS Korinar was a Klingon Bird-of-Prey that was in service with the Klingon Defense Force in the late 24th century.
The Korinar warned the runabout USS Yukon away from investigating an apparent explosion of a cloaked object in 2372, claiming that the Klingons were conducting military exercises. The Korinar was in fact participating in a Klingon effort to mine the Bajoran system.
The Korinar is a B'Rel class  bird of prey, smaller with less punch then the K'vort, but cheaper.
Lets see what's in the pack

Hey that's my Fish board game review Fantasy Flight Games

Hey, That’s My Fish! is an engaging, award-winning board game of strategic fish hunting, in which two to four players control determined penguins hungry for their next meal on a bustling Antarctic ice floe. Do you have the mettle to grab more fishy meals than your feathered foes?
Since Hey, That’s My Fish! was originally published in 2003, it has become widely popular as an engrossing and strategic board game for casual family and tactical play, and it was even recommended in 2006 for the Spiel des Jahres award. Now, Fantasy Flight Games is proud to publish this definitive edition of the game, which includes a new box, new penguin miniatures, and new artwork.
I enjoyed the artwork on the front, especially the raging penguin, and the back is clear and concise as well.  We know its going to be good quality coming from Fantasy flight Games, but is the game itself good?

We continue to look through the packs that come in the D&D Mega Bundle, and todays focus is the Stone Giant.

Dungeons and Dragons D&D Attack Wing Gold Dragon Unboxing

Continuing our adventure through the D&D Mega bundle we look at the Gold Dragon Expansion.

Pacatus the gold dragon has always been slow to anger, and feels an abundance of mercy for both his allies and his foes. He is likely to issue fair warning to his enemies before engaging them, and prefers to discourage them with his weakening breath rather than scorch them with his fire breath. Even so, there are times when even the most patient dragons can be tested, and when his wrath is incurred, Pacatus' strength and speed make him a powerful enemy to reckon with. When Pacatus leads a band of followers to one of of the three outer gates to the Palace of Luminos the Mighty, he discovers a chamber with two thrumming sentinels of pure energy (one positive and one negative). Just as Pacatus seeks to unravel their mystery, the forces loyal to the evil dragons arrive to challenge him for control of the magical chamber!

Dungeons and Dragons D&D Attack Wing Sun Elf Wizard Unboxing

The next pack we look at from the D&D Mega bundle is the Sun Elf Wizard.
Sun elves have a deep respect for magic, particularly of the high magic variety, and often concentrate their studies on its nature and use. Sun elves have an advantage in this over other races, even other eladrin, for as a collective group, sun elves have a greater wealth of lore than any other, a collection accumulated over millennia. With the proper training, sun elven mages might be capable of warding an entire city or changing the landscape of a small region overnight, although such power is often used hesitantly and with restraint, the destruction of Myth Drannor and other disasters reminding sun elves that with great power, comes the need to restrain one's self. As a result, sun elves, as much out of an urge to prevent magical disasters as out of possessive arrogance, are hesitant to use their abilities learned as mages outside of their domains.
Lets take a look at what she adds to the game

Dungeons and Dragons D&D Attack Wing Green Dragon Unboxing

The Green Dragon expansion pack includes the generic green dragon and the named Claugiyliamatar.

'This wyrm delights in hunting down and slaughtering small armed bands wandering in the wilderlands (in other words: adventurers). From time to time she varies such activities with devouring a field of almost-ripe grain in Goldenfields or tearing apart a food-caravan bound for the northern interior and eating men, beasts, and cargo alike. Claugiyliamatar usually signals this last sort of triumph by plucking up a caravan wagon, flying very high (to avoid the attention of griffon-back city patrols until it's too late), and dropping the wagon down as a lethal missile on the roofs of Waterdeep
She comes in a large packet where you can clearly see the model.
You also get a bit of fluff about her as well.
Now what's in the packet.......

Star Trek Attack Wing Relora Sankur unboxing

The Predator-class was a class of warship utilized by the Kazon Collective during the 2370s. They were originally designed by the Trabe and later commandeered by the Kazon and used as a massive warship. This class of vessel was much clumsier in battle at lower speeds than at warp speed and could be easily out maneuverered by an agile craft.

The Sankur is a blind ship from an op so is not a retail ship and is harder to find.  But is it worth finding?  lets take a look a see

Dungeons and Dragons D&D Attack Wing Wraith Unboxing

The Wraith expansion pack adds a powerful character to the game and storyline with Lord Maximillian.

Lord Maximilian was once a thriving courtier, talented and beloved by his peers. But that was long ago. Regrettable decisions made during his life have landed him in the Barony Below as a Dread Wraith, where he rules his palace sunk deep beneath the earth. Many believe the story of his fate to be a fable, but those who venture into his domain know far better.

The Barony is about to be invaded, for many have learned that Maximilian can often recall his past, and what he remembers might be vital to the missions of those who seek the Primordial Graveyard...

Jarl Horn is considered the most sinister Frost Giant alive by his clansmen, and that's saying something! His Frost Greataxe and Blackguard's Mail make him a formidable opponent as well. Few challenge his authority, and those who do soon regret their mistake.

Lets break it open and see what comes in the pack

D&D Attack Wing Starter Set The wrath of Balagos Battle Report

Olivia and I decided we needed to play a battle,  only using the starter set cards and creatures, so we decided a simple 1v1 dragon duel would be the way to go.  50 points.  Olivia Picked Balagos the Red dragon.
For upgrades she gave him Fire Breath for an attack that can penetrate armour, and Searing flames to inflict more damage.
Prepared for battle, you can really see how big the model is, and nice looking too.
I took Galadaeros the copper Dragon, and added some upgrades, magic missile to add an all round attack, close quarters so I can roll some ectra dice after I attack up close as my attack is not great.  Hidecarved scales to add an extra armour to hopefully survive longer, and Acid breath for a long range attack that can penetrate armour.

So who will win, The Evil Balagos? or the good Galadaeros? read on and see.

D&D Attack Wing Starter Set unboxing and Review Dungeons and Dragons

At the heart of the D&D Attack Wing Mega bundle is the Starter set, so that is where we are going to begin our look at the game.
It comes in a nice big box, that shows off the stunning models with a large plastic window.
On the back it has a nice show of the basics.  It advises the game is on average 60 mins, but we found it can be quicker or longer depending on what point level you play or adventure, but as an average its about right. It suggests ages 14, which is subjective, as Olivia can play it and she is 6, but to fully master the details and the subtleties list building the age may be about right.  If you are familiar with Star Trek Attack wing from Wizkids, or X-Wing from Fantasy Flight Games, you will be familiar with the basics fo the system, but there are plenty of subtle differences that make it worth a look.

Now what comes in this massive box? lets see.

Dungeons and Dragons D&D Attack Wing Mega Bundle Review

Dungeons and Dragons, a name familiar to most of, and a gateway game into roleplay for a lot of us as well, the Forgotten realms, and high adventure, there is always a story to remember and tell about adventures in D&D, and now there is a new way to start making those stories.

D&D Attack Wing.  Its from Wizkids games, and uses the Flight path system as seen in Star Trek Attack Wing and X-Wing, with manoeuvre dials and templates, but with changes in the rules to reflect the mix of ground and air combat, and units as well.

Pre-packed in one game box, the Mega bundle is ready for players to open, build their armies and start their adventures in the D&D Universe.  It takes you from learning the game to massed battles with multiple options in one single move.
All this above comes in the Mega Bundle, and two of the packets I opened to show you what you get in them, so when you multiple that across the other expansions and starter box you get a massive haul of goodies.

Lets take a closer look at hat comes in the Mega Bundle

Here is the Sun elf wizard pack, I have just opened it to give you an idea of what you get inside, a great looking model, loads of card tokens and scenery, game and upgrade cards, and an adventure booklet to play.
You get the mighty Frost Giant, and the sturdy Stone Giant, huge models to lead the ground assaults whilst the Dragons whirl and swoop in the air.
A sun elf troop to provide solid support in a combat formation.
You et the starter set which contains all the Rules, tokens templates dice and bits and pieces you need, along with 3 great looking Dragon models
The Wraith Expansion pack, containing two powerful Wraith models.
The Fierce Green Dragon, showing what you get in the pack.
Hobgoblin Troops
And we finish with the Gold Dragon and the mighty Silver Dragon.
The quality of these models is just excellent, and a huge leap on from previous Wizkids works, with lots of detail, and a good paint job, plus they are big! and are all in scale in with each other.
The Dragons are the powerful centrepieces of your force and look the part.
The Sun elf Mage is a great looking model, with the fireball in her hands modelled in a translucent plastic, and well painted.
You can see that the figures on a round base that slots on top of the Attack Wing bases.  This means they can be used in D&D Attack Wing, AND also used in the Role Playing game to represent monsters and characters for battle.  They are also good enough to pop in to War Games on the table top as characters and creatures to fight.  They also will not look out of place on your shelf as display pieces.
With everything you get in the Mega Bundle,
Starter Set
Wave 1 - Green Dragon
Wave 1 - Frost Giant
Wave 1 - Sun Elf Guard Troop
Wave 1 - Hobgoblin Troop
Wave 1 - Sun Elf Wizard
Wave 1 - Wraiths
Wave 3 - Silver Dragon Expansion
Wave 4 - Gold Dragon Expansion
Wave 4 - Stone Giant Expansion
It gives you a solid base and well balanced between Good and Evil to play two large forces against each, or to really play around with a lot of variety for list building.  You also of course get the scenarios in the starter and adventures that come in each pack, so there is plenty to keep you going,
There are also many other packs to pick up to add and expand your force for even more variety, adventures and great looking models.
If you have looked at this game and wondered, or are thinking of taking the plunge, then there is really no better way then the Mega Bundle to get you all the toys you need, the amount of entertainment you will get from it, the cards, the great models and adventures and playing the game is well worth it
I did have to draft some help in for the unpacking and punching out the templates.

Stay with us now for a marathon run of D&D, guiding you through what comes in the sets, how it plays, what the expansions are like, and of course battle reports.

If bought separately the items in the Mega Bundle would come to around £195, but getting them all in the Mega Bundle it has an  RRP is £90 so a massive saving over individual purchases. Head here to find your local store and ask them about picking up the Mega Bundle.  If your store do not have it, tell the to contact Esdevium Games and they can get it there.

Xwing Z-95 Headhunter pilot builds

The Headhunter is a great cheap rebel ship, so in this article we look at how you can use the Headhunter's pilots to their best ability. It's a 2 across the board ship with a good dial.

So, the fist pilot that comes in the set is the humble Bandit Squadron Pilot, at pilot skill 2 he is not
the best, but he can still hold it and for only 12 points for a 2 across the board ship you cant really complain. He has a missile upgrade slot if you need it as well.  That option on a 12 pt ship is not to be sniffed at, though as missiles are expensive I do not know how many times you may want to use this.

Next up we have....

Star Trek Attack Wing Tal'Kir unboxing

The Tal'Kir was a Vulcan D'Kyr-type combat cruiser that was in service with the Vulcan High Command in the mid-22nd century.
In 2152, the Tal'Kir was assigned to rendezvous with Starfleet's Enterprise NX-01 to transfer a time travel pod from the 31st century back to Earth. While waiting at the rendezvous coordinates, the vessel was attacked by four Tholian starships, which disabled the Tal'Kir's engines and weapons and badly breached the hull on its port side, though life support remained stable.
After the Tholians withdrew, the captain of the Tal'Kir pointed out to Captain Archer that "a ship can be replaced." Archer noted he wanted to send his appreciation for helping them, and Enterprise continued on its mission. A Vulcan ship was later sent to tow the Tal'Kir back to Vulcan
The Tal'Kir is a op blind ship, not a retail, so its harder to come by.  Lets dive in and see what you get.

Star Wars X-Wing the Force Awakens Battle Report

Olivia and me broke out The force Awakens set, and only using the tokens ships and bits form the starter set to see if you can get a fun game from it.
We played a 36 point game and Olivia was the Resistance, I used the First Order forces.
Lets take a look at how it played out.....

Munchkin Adventure Time by Steve Jackson Games and USAopoly Review and unboxing

Munchkin, apparently it comes in many varieties, but I have never played it until now.  And that is due to Adventure Time Munchkin!  I mean I Love Adventure time, Olivia loves Adventure Time, seems like a good match!  The basic theme of the game is a dungeon romp equipping gear, slaying monster and looting treasure, which sounds a perfect fit for the Adventure Time world.
I love the box artwork for this game, it really fits the theme of both Adventure Time and Munchkin
The back advises 3-4 players, we have played it 3 players, and 2 as well which does work if you want a more co-operative feel which was nice to teach Olivia how it works. it played fine that way, though its most fun when its at its cut throat best.
Inside you get a fold out instructions sheet on how to play, a set of large character cards, a treasure deck, a dungeon deck and a d6.  The cards are nice quality with great art on them.
Special mention goes to the D6 as it has Jakes face as the number 1. I loved that, Olivia loved that and tried to "borrow" the dice. ......

Pokemon XY Ancient origins Theme Decks Iron Tide and Stone heart review and unboxing

Pokémon.... I always thought it was for kids. Mainly that's due to me being a little older when Pokémon first started airing as a cartoon, and the cards came out.  At that point I was into Magic the Gathering, therefore looked down at all other card games, and so it was forgotten about.  until now.  Being a dad myself with a young one, she's always watching cartoons, and has on occasion watched Pokémon, so when we where lucky enough to try these she was excited and I went into with trepidation.  Did that trepidation stay? you will have to wait and see.
We got two starter decks that could battle against each other, above is the Iron Tide deck, a metal and water energy one that came with everything you need to play, which is good, as I had no idea about how to play this or build with boosters.  The box is nicely presented, with a holo (foil for MTG players) card displayed in the front window.
on the back of the box, it gives you a list of contents, what cards come in and a bit of background about the deck and how it should work
When you open it you can see it has some nice pamphlets all folded up, a plastic coin for use in game and all your cards.
The opposing deck is a fighting and grass energy deck called Stone Heart, again nice artwork and the holo card you get that's exclusive to the box on display.

So what else is in these boxes?
