Timeline Historical Events game review by Asmodee games

Today we look at Timeline Historical Events from Asmodee games.  Its a card game with 110 cards  for 2-8 players.
It comes in a nice box that clearly has the age ranges, amount of players and game time on it.
Inside the card packaging is a lovely metal tin, with some nice raised work on it for a 3D style cover
Inside the box you will find 110 cards nicely packed so its a game that you can store easily, and has inbuilt box control, always a bonus.
You also get a tiny rulebook.  The game does not have many rules so you don't really need anything more than it.
It contains the rules, has some nice simple diagrams showing you how it works as well, though after one read through of a couple of minutes you can be playing with people who haven't played before in a few minutes its that's simple.
The back of the metal box shows some of the cards, and gives you a great overview of the game and what it is about, since the main packaging is transparent you can read this off the shelf and decide if its for you or not.

Lets take a deeper look at the cards, how it plays, and who may enjoy it.....

Star Trek Attack Wing 4th Division Battleship unboxing

The Jem'Hadar or Dominion battleship was a type of warship introduced in the Alpha Quadrant midway through the Dominion War, in 2374.
On stardate 51825, the Federation starship USS Valiant conducted a mission to collect technical data on a new battleship operating in their sector. After spending three hours collecting data on the vessel, they determined that it was a direct threat to every Federation outpost and colony within fifty light years and that it had to be destroyed. Believing they found a weakness in the design of the ship, they engaged the Jem'Hadar vessel and were subsequently destroyed with relative ease by the battleship leaving only Jake Sisko, Nog, and a Red Squad cadet, Dorian Collins left to escape.
A Jem'Hadar battleship was used to destroy a Cardassian Rebellion base in late 2375.

Several of these ships participated in the Battle of Cardassia. Afterward, they and the other Dominion forces retreated to the orbit of Cardassia Prime to join the defense of that planet.
Initial observations of the vessel, conducted by the Valiant using sensor probes, indicated that the battleship was twice the size of a Galaxy-class starship and three times as powerful.
The crew of the USS Valiant determined that the primary support braces for the antimatter storage system of the battleship were constructed from viterium, prone to destabilization when exposed to delta radiation. The Valiant crew attempted to exploit this possible design flaw using modified torpedoes, but discovered that the ship was not as susceptible as they thought

Its a beast of a ship, but whats it like in game? lets see.

Star Trek Attack Wing Kreechta unboxing

The Kreechta was a Ferengi D'Kora-class marauder that was in service in the mid-24th century. Kreechta was commanded by DaiMon Bractor.
In 2365, the Kreechta stumbled upon a Starfleet battle simulation that was being conducted by the USS Enterprise-D and the USS Hathaway in the Braslota system. The Kreechta attacked and quickly overwhelmed the Enterprise, which had been functioning on minimal shields for the battle simulation.

Bractor demanded that Enterprise captain, Jean-Luc Picard, turn over the Hathaway to him, believing that the two Starfleet vessels had been involved in some kind of internal struggle and that the Hathaway contained something of high value. However, the Kreechta retreated when it appeared that the Enterprise destroyed the Hathaway to prevent it from falling into enemy hands.

So lets dive in and see if you have the lobes to play the Kreechta

Dice masters Dungeons and Dragons Battle for Faerun 2 player starter set Review

As you know here at the Garage Gamers we look at all sorts of things that that look fun, and this is our latest.  Dicemasters, there are a few systems for it out there, superheroes, and yu gi oh, and it hadn't caught my eye before.  Until Dungeons and Dragons.  Like lots of us I have fond memories of DnD from my youth, so a game in this world had to be worth a look right? And of course its called Dice masters, and who doesn't love dice!

So what is Dicemasters, well at its most basic its a dice rolling tactical combat and resource management game, where the idea is to summon creatures in (your cards and dice) and reduce your opponents life to 0.

In quick order ours arrived from Esdevium games, who have a great site to keep track of all sorts of gaming goodness here.
Olivia was very pleased at the prospect of another game to beat me at!  Its a small box, which makes a nice change for a 2 player starter, its nice and portable.
I love the artwork on it, and it shows you all these great looking dice in the clear window.
Even the sides of  the box have great art on them.
 A full list of contents.
When you open it up you see you get your dice, a mini rule booklet, cards, and your little dice bags.
So lets take a look at how it plays a bit more in depth....

Star Trek Attack Wing IRW Vorta Vor unboxing

Today we take a look at the Romulan bird of prey Vorta Vor, which was a blind booster ship from the tournament scene.  As you can see it comes sealed in a black box so you have no idea what is in it until you open it to build with for the tournament.

Gaining its name from the bold pattern of an alien bird's feathers painted on the ship's ventral hull, the Romulan Bird-of-Prey was the successor of a 22nd century counterpart of similar design.

The Federation Starfleet first encountered this vessel in 2266, when a single ship of this type crossed the Romulan Neutral Zone and attacked several border outposts, destroying them utterly. The USS Enterprise responded to the alert and engaged in a tense game of cat-and-mouse with the intruder for more than ten hours, before the Bird-of-Prey was destroyed.

The Romulans later used larger numbers to patrol their border with the Federation in force. Typically during an incursion, one Bird-of-Prey will bring a starship out of warp with a plasma torpedo to allow the ships in its battle group to attack the target en masse.

lets dive in...

Star Trek Attack Wing IKS Koraga unboxing

The IKS Koraga was a Klingon Bird-of-Prey that was in service with the Klingon Defence Force in the late 24th century.
In 2375, the Koraga, under the command of Lieutenant Commander Worf, and the IKS Rotarran were ambushed by a Jem'Hadar patrol near the Badlands. The Koraga was destroyed, although six starboard escape pods were recovered by the Rotarran. The USS Defiant searched the area for an additional three days, until it was forced to retreat by Dominion forces. Worf's pod, launched from the port side, had been swept into the Badlands and was only found much later
The Koraga is a nice addition to the Klingon fleet, and who doesn't love a Bird of prey, so lets look at the pack.

Star Trek Attack Wing USS Yeager Saber class unboxing

The Saber-class of Federation starship was first introduced in the late 24th century, and was in full service by 2373. The ship featured a design more compact than other Starfleet vessels, and was fairly well armed despite its small size; the class has featured prominently in the Battle of Sector 001 against the Borg and in the Dominion War.
The Yeager is another ship form the events, not a retail one, so it does not have a mission with it, but as you will see it has plenty of good cards with it!.....
