Star Trek Attack Wing Gavroche Unboxing

The Gavroche is a Maquis raider that was used by the Federation turn coat officer Michael Eddington.
The ship is one of the blind boosters so is not a retail ship, meaning no mission and limited cards, but it is a good one in my opinion and combined with the Val Jean makes a nice pair of Maquis ships.
So whats in the pack? lets take a look and see

Federation Attack Fighters were utilized by the Federation throughout the Dominion War.  Fighter Squadron 6 is one of many squadrons of Federation Attack Fighters ordered by Captain Benjamin Sisko to employ tactical pattern theta and single out the Cardassian ships in order to punch a hole through the Dominion lines so that the Federation ships could reach Terok Nor.

So lets take a look at the set, this is a different kind of pack to the normal capital ships

Jungle Speed card game by Asmodee games review

Today we look at Jungle speed from Asmodee games.  A fast paced card game suitable for family fun of all ages to adult parties.
The box gives its age rating of 7 plus, Olivia is 6 and she got this game very quickly.  However do not dismiss this game due to the low age rating, its fun for all.  The play time was about right, sometimes less, and we tried it with 2 and 3 players, though more would make it more hectic.
The game is so simple to learn the back of the box explains most of it!  Now to look and see what is inside....

An interview with Frostgrave author Joesph McCullough

I was lucky enough to get Joesph McCullough, author of Fantasy Skirmish game Frostgrave to have a little chat with us here at the Garage Gamers about the game, future things, and all sorts of bits.  I didn't want to keep him too long, and prevent those lovely expansions coming! so take a look below, and if you have not already seen our review of Frostgrave then head and take a quick look and pop back its right here

1 To start, a question we always ask, are you a gamer yourself? And if so what are your favourite games and how did your entry to the hobby begin.

If I remember correctly, I brought my first Dungeons & Dragons ‘red box’ home from a yard sale when I was about 8 years old. I’ve pretty much been hooked on games since then. During college, I virtually lived in the local gaming store, and I played just about every RPG, wargame, card game and board game that came out at the time. Since I moved to the UK about ten years ago, I haven’t really role-played, but I paint loads of miniatures and try to get in a wargame as often as I can.

2. What was the driving idea behind the creation of Frostgrave?

Basically, I wanted a reason to use the hundreds of fantasy figures I had collected over the years. I had boxes of them gathering dust in the closet, but I had never found a wargame that really let me use them like I wanted to. Especially wizards, I have so many wizards, but they are rarely called upon in most games.  So, I decided.....

Bombshell Miniatures Babes Vivan Gale review

I have been lucky enough to take a look at the Bombshell Babes range from Bombshell Miniatures.

Bombshell Miniatures was formed in 2012 to offer a dedicated range of unique character models suitable for use in many tabletop and roleplaying games as well as for collecting and painting. Thanks to several successful Kickstarter projects and many loyal backers, Bombshell Miniatures has expanded to offer new and exciting concepts in tabletop battle games, and looks to promote the hobby aspect of gaming as well as expand into publishing other game formats in the future.

Bombshell have a growing range, and the minis can be used in all sorts of game systems.  They are 32mm metal models, though would fit in with some of the 28mm heroic scale miniatures.  They are all highly detailed, and beautifully sculpted so lets take a look at Vivan Gale......

Dobble by Asmodee games Review

Today I am lucky enough to take a look at Dobble.  So what is Dobble? well.... Dobble is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes to play its suitable for adults and children alike.
Dobble comes in a nice colourful box with the play time, age range and player number clearly marked.  The time is about right, sometimes its quicker but it never outstays its welcome.  The age range is about right as well, Olivia (6 years old) got the idea quickly and was soon beating me.  You can play from two players upwards its true, but I think the "sweet spot" is from 3 players on, which is good as there are not many 3 player games that work well.
Inside the box we have a nice metal Tin, Small, self contained with everything you need to play in it, making it nice and easy to transport.

So what does it play like?

Star Trek Attack Wing Ogla Razik Kazon predator unboxing

The Predator-class was a class of warship utilized by the Kazon Collective during the 2370s. They were originally designed by the Trabe and later commandeered by the Kazon and used as a massive warship. This class of vessel was much clumsier in battle at lower speeds than at warp speed and could be easily out maneuvered by an agile craft.
A much needed second ship to add to the Kazon forces.  But is it any good? lets see....

Star Trek Attack Wing Romulan Prototype 01 Drone ship build

The Romulan drone ship is an interesting one for sure, with 3 across the board its stats are solid and it can manouver really well.  Not too fast but it sure is nimble, look at at that dial, not a single red on there.
So we start with the named ship, its ability to repair itself for free is invaluable. For captains we take Gareb, he is an unusal one as his skill is based on the captain he mimics, so here is a skill 6 captain for 1 point. not bad.  For his special talent we have core overload so its there if you need to need to unleash it to take a few ships down with you.
Now the rest of the build....

Star Trek Attack Wing 2nd Division Battle cruiser ship build.

Today we look at the Jem hadar Battle cruiser builds.
As always I look at the 50 point build, then of course I go wild to see what I would like to do usuing only the cards that come in the pack.

First up we have the sub 50pt build,

Taking the named ship with Gul Dukat for captain gives it a good high captain skill, and the ability to add extra attack dice when needed.  With Photon Torpedoes it has some long range punch adding a plus one for being from the cruiser.  That links in with Lamat Ukan who can switch your target lock for a nice bit of trickery.  Finally Amat Igan adds an extra defence dice, which for 3 points is well worth it.

Its a solid build coming in at 49 points, but what If I want more toys... well lets see....

Dystopian Wars Russian Coalition Painted Novgorod Class Frigate

The Novgorod Class Frigate operates in a radically different fashion to the majority of frigates around the world, boasting a curious circular hull that affords it unmatched manoeuvrability.

It has taken a while but finally brush and paint hit model.  It is a tiny little model, but nicely detailed as you can see well enough yap onto some pictures!

Star Trek Attack Wing Koranak Cardassian Keldon unboxing

Coming in to give the Dominion forces some support we have the Kornanak.

The Koranak was a Cardassian Keldon-class cruiser that was in service with the Obsidian Order in the late 24th century.
This ship was illegally obtained by the Order and was modified with an increased top speed and the addition of a cloaking device from the Romulans. This ship would fight in the joint Tal Shiar/Obsidian Order attack on the Founders' homeworld in 2371. The attack failed, and the Koranak was later lost in the ensuing battle.

so lets take a look at her.

Star Trek Attack Wing Borg ScoutCube 608 unboxing

Today we look at the smallest of the Borg vessels, the Borg Scout Cube.  It may only be a scout, but it is still Borg, and has the potential to be quite scary.

lets get stuck in and see what it brings!
