Bombshell Miniatures Babes Sally Starfield review

I have been lucky enough to take a look at the Bombshell Babes range from Bombshell Miniatures, so here is another one.  Sally Starfield

Bombshell Miniatures was formed in 2012 to offer a dedicated range of unique character models suitable for use in many tabletop and roleplaying games as well as for collecting and painting. Thanks to several successful Kickstarter projects and many loyal backers, Bombshell Miniatures has expanded to offer new and exciting concepts in tabletop battle games, and looks to promote the hobby aspect of gaming as well as expand into publishing other game formats in the future.

Bombshell have a growing range, and the minis can be used in all sorts of game systems.  They are 32mm metal models, though would fit in with some of the 28mm heroic scale miniatures.  They are all highly detailed, and beautifully sculpted so lets take a look at Sally.
As all the Bombshell single models, they come in simple but quality packaging.  She is a lovely model, lets take a closer look

Star Trek Attack Wing PWB Aj'Rmr unboxing

The PWB Aj'rmr was a Romulan warbird that was in service in the late 24th century. This ship fought in the Dominion War.
In 2375, the Aj'rmr saw action with the combined Allied fleet in the defense of the Chin'toka system during the Dominion War. The vessel suffered casualties in a Dominion counterattack and reported numerous crew casualties, which were displayed on a casualty report displayed aboard Deep Space 9.
The Aj'Rmr is a prize ship from one of the Dominion War events and kindly sent over by a friend for Olivia to use to crush me, like she needs help!
Its not an often seen ship due to that fact, so what's inside the packet? and is she any good?

Artizan Designs Devil's Brigade 28mm WW2 review for Bolt Action

I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of Artizan Designs' WWII range ; from their "Devil's Brigade" range, to be precise. I received two different blisters - the "SWW6006 F.S.S.F. in parkas with rifles" blister, and the "SWW604 F.S.S.F. with SMGs" pack.  You may have seen these guys lurking in my US army pics.

For those of you like me, never having heard of the F.S.S.F. before, I've provided a bit of background information on the unit. The Devil's Brigade (also called The Black Devils; The Black Devils' Brigade; and Freddie's Freighters;  officially the 1st Special Service Force), was an elite, joint American and Canadian unit organized in 1942. The brigade fought in the Aleutian Islands, Italy and Southern France, before being disbanded in December 1944.

It’s rather neat having some special models to represent this unit. Even if I don’t field them

Star Trek Attack Wing IRW Haakona Romulan Warbird unboxing

The IRW Haakona was a Romulan D'deridex-class warbird that was in service with the Romulan military in the mid-24th century.

In 2365, Subcommander Taris was the commanding officer of this ship. In that year, the Haakona covertly downloaded logs from USS Yamato and then followed the USS Enterprise-D to the planet Iconia. However, the warbird had acquired the same malevolent Iconian software transmission in the download as the Enterprise-D, and was experiencing similar system malfunctions, which Taris blamed on Starfleet sabotage. Nevertheless, on the warnings from the Enterprise-D the Haakona destroyed an Iconian probe before it could make a scan, prolonging its survival.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard escaped from the surface of Iconia onto the Haakona using an Iconian gateway, and was shortly after beamed back to the Enterprise-D. By that time, the program had activated the Haakona's self-destruct sequence. The Enterprise-D transmitted instructions on neutralizing the Iconian program to the Haakona before its departure, saving the Romulan vessel.

Now is this a good pack? its the first D`deridex we have seen since the one in the starter, so lets dive in.

Frost Grave: Assembling Your Warband pt.1

Good evening treasure hunters, today I will be going over how to recruit your band miscreants to aid your wizard in his quest to find artefacts.

This 2 part article I will discuss how war bands can be created and show a few examples of mine,

There are in general 3 ways to make a warband-

1. Carefully plan everything, spend your gold carefully, work out each models pros and cons. (In general my least favourite)

2. Wing it, the most common method and great for pick up games. Spend your gold on what you like, and don't worry about how it plans out. (This method is what I use for one off games or intro games)

3. Theme your warband. This involves as much work as method 1 but is more fun in my opinion. Look at what your wizard is based on and have his followers in a similar vein (my preferred method as you will soon see)

So how did I go about building my first warband, I wanted a pretty generic looking wizard and a band of like minded fellows. This warband though I didn't want an apprentice, instead choosing to build a full 8 soldiers with my start up gold (a second warband will be discussed later including an apprentice)

So firstly my wizard......

he's free you don't pay anything for him/her and this is in typical fashion the model representation of yourself. So what did I choose for mine, naturally having played Lord of the reigns before I went with ..... Gandalf, in fact the pose shown here

Now the model pictured isn't mine, it's the GW promotional shots for the web store, but he fits the bill nicely. You can tell he's a wizard, he's different to my basic foot soldiers and he grows a beard faster than me.

So my wizard is done, what do I want next? I firstly viewed the wizard as a good ranged combatant but I want more in that vein, so cue archers, armed with bow, Hand weapon and leather armour and reasonably priced 2 found their way into my encampment seeking employ.

I felt that my Warband needed some hard hitters and some people that could survive, with 6 spaces left and my purse a bit lighter I went in search of respective fellows,

This led me to a group of 6 gentlemen, 2 men at arms and 4 warriors, all eagerly took my gold and signed on. The Warriors come as standard with a 2 handed weapon and leather armour, the men at arms come with hand weapons came with hand weapons, leather armour and shields. Giving me a core of soldiers to do the leg work I was happy, totalling it all up I've spent 400 of my 500 so I lol save the 100 I have left.

My soldiers are based of these Saxons from war games factory, again this is a promotional shot

This is the Warband that I plan to keep on me at all times, it's fairly balanced mobile enough to capture relics and can deal with all threats sent at me.

As for monetary cost, in the UK it would cost about £15 (prices based of various sites) which I don't think is too bad for a small scale skirmish game, after your first game with a crew like this I'd try for an apprentice ASAP, they get pricey as you get better. Mine costs a fraction more as I have used some extra stuff so I'd say about £25 for mine

So my Warband has been planned out (fairly easy) now it's time to build it, part 2 will show you how I turned some Saxons into winter soldiers and what I did to make them fit the frost grave theme. I'll see you all in the city soon, till then happy relic hunting.

Star Trek Attack Wing IKS Gr'oth unboxing

The IKS Gr'oth was a Klingon D7-class battle cruiser that was in service with the Klingon Imperial Fleet in the mid-23rd century. In 2268, the Gr'oth was under the command of Captain Koloth. The starship's first officer was Korax.
In that year, the Gr'oth entered Federation space and demanded shore leave rights at Deep Space K-7 after completing a six-month mission. It left the station with an engine room full of tribbles.

In 2269, the projected stasis field, a weapon capable of disabling the warp drives and completely paralyzing all the vital systems of enemy ships, was installed on the Gr'oth. In that year, the Gr'oth pursued a Federation scoutship piloted by Cyrano Jones, a Federation citizen who was responsible for causing ecological sabotage to a Klingon planet and stealing a Klingon glommer. Koloth attempted to disable the USS Enterprise, under Kirk's command, in order to retrieve Jones and the glommer.

Lets dive right in!
