The Walking Dead All Out War Carol Booster pack from Mantic Games unboxing and Review
Carol is the latest booster for Mantic Games excellent The Walking Dead All out War
Are Mantic keeping up the great quality of the previous ones?......
Carol and Sophia journeyed to Atlanta, but they never made it into the city, and joined up with the original camp members. Shy and guarded, Carol plays the role of shoulder-to-lean-on and sounding board.
This booster pack contains 3 unique, collectible miniatures allowing you to add Carol and Sophia to your games, along with an extra Walker to bulk out your herd.
Contents:
As always the models are presented with he main character showing nicely, and in a nice moulded plastic tray for storage. Right enough talk So lets take a look and see what we get.......
We get the main two character cards for the pack. Carol is low cost, with 4 health, average melee, no shoot and average defense, but only a low nerve, so when things get hairy she may not stick around too long. But she does have 2 pack slots, and can be used in other ways that do not reflect confrontation, gather ing supplies, luring walkers and so on. She has the special rule Unstable as well, where you must roll a blue die at the start of each of her activation to see how many action she can take for that turn.
Sophia the innocent child weighs in at only a bargain 6 points. True she has no dice in melee or shoot, so she wont be fighting, and with 3 health wont stay around long, but she has a pack slot for gathering supplies, and can be used again to lure walkers away from members of the group who may be doing more heavy work. She has a special rule, Just a Kid, which means if a survivor wants to target her with a ranged attack, they must roll the black die first, and on sheriff they can fire, otherwise they must pick a different child. The devious players among you could use this to almost human shield a more "valuable character"
A nice touch is an alternate version of Derek from the Starter set, providing you with plenty more choice for building your forces.
Equipment wise we get the suppressor, which is a handgun attachment that lets you roll a black dice, and any sheriff icon lowers the mayhem to just noise, so could be useful, but it is still quite random.
The Lucky Charm is, well.. just that! its one use only, but it lets you reroll all the dice from a single attack or defense roll, or even a panic test, so well worth it if you have the spare points.
Ricks pistol provides some ranged firepower with armour piercing and a hefty blue dice added to your ranged attack, or you could use the Sawn off shotgun, giving you a bit more range than ricks pistol, but only adding a red to the shoot pool.
Carol and Sophia have been caught in great action poses, and are very well detailed, so would take painting a treat, though of course you do not have to! The Walker, again another individual unrepeated sculpt is suitably shambling. Again Mantic have impressed! keep it going guys, This is a great pack to pick up for your game.
With an RRP of £13.49 for this booster it will add some nice new options, and a beloved character to your games with some new choices to make in list building too. so head on over to your local game store and grab one.
